This is why it is better to have your own blog. I bet you do not want all the data in your blog disappear once the company decide to close down the service.

The advantage of having your own blog is you have full control on how you want your blog to be. You can set up an opt-in form where you can request your friends to sign up for free update. You can place your advertisement on your side bar, and your can share all the links to all the favourite sites you like at your own blog. The most important point, it will not disappear as far as you manage your blog well.
